Public Private Partnership Deal for Expressway in Dong Nai Province Approved
Jul. 19 – The expressway project that will link Dau Giay located in Dong Nai Province with Phan Thiet town in Binh Thuan Province has been approved by authorities under a public private partnership deal.
Provincial authorities will be in charge of site clearance and compensation while construction will be led by the Binh Minh Import Export Production and Trading Group and International Finance Corporation as the first and second investors. International tenders will determine the third investor.
The six-lane road is scheduled to be operational by 2020 with a length of 128 kilometers. The PPP road project will cost US$745 million to build, beginning between the Dau Giay-Phan Thiet section and the HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay road in Dong Nai Province, and ending at Nga Hai township and Ham Kiem Industrial Park in Binh Thuan Province.
The PPP investment model aims to provide needed funding for huge infrastructure projects by allowing private developers and the government to mitigate the risks of development.
Currently, the Ministry of Transport is looking for local and foreign investors for infrastructure projects using the PPP format: Danang-Quang Ngai; My Thuan-Can Tho; Noi Bai-Halong; Halong-Mong Cai; Dau Giay-Da Lat; Ben Luc-Long Thanh; Haiphong International Port and the Ho Chi Minh City-Can Tho railway.
