Cambodia to Open 3 New Border Crossings with Vietnam
Jun. 5 – Cambodia is set to open additional border crossings with Vietnam by next month to encourage more tourism and trade between the two countries.
When the new border crossings are open it will allow more vehicles to arrive per day from the previous 150 to 500. The news was announced by Cambodia’s Minister of Tourism, Thong Khon, during a tourism workshop held in Siem Reap last Thursday.
So far, this year has seen 100, 041 visitors arrive from Vietnam, a 34 percent increase from last year’s figures and already accounting for 12.55 percent of the total foreign tourists visiting Cambodia.
“With the opening of the three new, we will have seven in total of border crossings with Vietnam and expect bringing more Vietnamese tourists”, Chinese language newspaper the Commercial News quoted Thong Khon as saying.
The seven border crossings to Cambodia are Svay Ring, Kampot, Kampong Cham, Rotanak Kiri, Mondol Kiri, Kracheh and Takaev provinces.
