Vietnam Opens Cambodia Border Gate to Traffic
Oct. 13 – Vietnam and Cambodia have opened their border gates to traffic which includes the Ha Tien border gate in Vietnam’s Kien Giang Province and the Prek Chark border gate in Cambodia’s Kampot Province.
Cambodia and Vietnam share a 1,137 kilometer border. The move highlights Vietnam’s expanding relationship with Cambodia that has seen the two countries cooperating more on economic issues.
Vietnam and Cambodia had been engaged in a bitter war from 1976-1990 which eventually led to the invasion of the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh. Now, Vietnam is the second largest foreign investor in Cambodia while Cambodia is the 16th largest investor of Vietnam.
