Trade Ministry Cautions Local Businesses on Hong Kong Trading
Aug. 25 – Vietnam’s Trade Ministry is advising local companies to practice care when trading with Hong Kong companies after cases of fraud were reported.
Vietnamese businesses should consult the ministry’s office before they trade with partners in the territory, Vietnamese trade authorities told Thanh Nien News.
Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade office in Hong Kong mentioned a case when a Hong Kong-based company, Carling (Hong Kong) Limited had disappeared after receiving funds for 1,000 tons of meat powder from the two local businesses. The Vietnamese businesses said they did not receive any shipments from Carling after nor were they able to contact the company.
According to Vietnamese trade authorities, Carling was listed in Hong Kong in 2004 to director Pierre William Boyomo Giuntang, a Cameroonian national, and his co-director Thomas Tsang Ka Kau, a Hong Kong citizen.
