Enterprise Partnerships for Development Event Held in Vietnam

Jun. 6 – The Vietnam Business Forum’s “Enterprise Partnerships for Development” event organized by UNIDO and held from May 24 to May 26 in Ho Chi Minh City, has recently concluded.

More than 40 Italian companies and associations attended in the three-day event meeting more than 90 Vietnamese partners during 300 business meetings. Several preliminary agreements, memoranda of understanding, and letters of intent have already been signed, in order to develop institutional initiatives and entrepreneurial agreements.

The event was well attended and had distinguished speakers including Mr. Lorenzo Angeloni, Ambassador of Italy to Vietnam; Gerardo Patacconi, Head of Cluster and Business Linkage at UNIDO Vienna; Mr. Claudio Dordi, Professor at Bocconi University, CTA, EU project Mutrap III; Mr. Michele D’Ercole, Chairman of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam; and Dr. Rosario Di Maggio, Manager of South China and Vietnam, Dezan Shira & Associates.

The “Enterprise Partnerships for Development” followed events successfully conducted in Italy to catch up on information on investment opportunities in Vietnam, culminating in the “Road Show Vietnam” organized by UNIDO. It was a great chance for foreign investors to understand the potential of Vietnam as a market and investment destination, and to discover concrete opportunities of business partnerships through tailored meetings with selected Vietnamese industries and institutions involved in textile and clothing, footwear and leather, and furniture sectors.

Mr. Phan Van Ban, a Deputy General Director of the Agency for Industrial Promotion (under the Ministry of Industry and Trade) highlighted the benefits of establishing a business partnership with a Vietnamese company, opening a way to the market. Such companies can initially rely on the production facilities and relations provided by a local partner, complementing it with their capacity for design and development of quality products, advanced production management, and branding.
